I love Betta splendens, the fish known as the Siamese Fighting Fish or simply the Betta. The betta was once referred to as the "Jewel of the Orient", and in my opinion, there is no better fish. I enjoy breeding these wonderful creatures and watching them grow. This site is about my experiences with bettas, their care and breeding, and the bettas I sell.

I am breeding the second generation of my line of halfmoon dragon bettas. I chose the parents from a US breeder so the fish would not have to make the trip to California from Thailand and wait at customs. I want to provide a local US source of halfmoon bettas while improving their health and beauty with careful selective breeding. I sell my fish to a local independant fish shop, using the proceeds to buy fish supplies. I also donate bettas and supplies to local schools for classroom pets.

Trogdor, the patriarch of my line, is from Texas. He is a partially masked green dragon halfmoon betta. He produced a litter of 40 with an 8-ray green female Malificent, his sibling sister, when they were 4 months old. Trogdor was a champ throughout his fatherly duties and nearly all of his fry survived to adulthood.

F2 Generation #1: Ancalagon x Flint

ancalagon flint

Ancalagon (named after the legendary Tolkien dragon) mated with Flint, a copper metallic 8-ray halfmoon. Ancalagon is a red, blue and black butterfly dragon halfmoon. He has multiple white tips on each of his ventral fins, which is a trait I like. Flint is very friendly and sociable, and like her mom, she helped her mate put the eggs in the nest during courtship. She also builds bubblenests.
